It's not self-deception. It's just optimistm.

The beauty of being too young for preschool is that when you're really really really tired in the morning, you don't have to get ready and get going. This applies to me on a regular basis. As a matter of fact, when I have been up and about since 5 am, I take great pleasure in settling down for a 15 minute nap just before 9 am. (Yes, I agree that the positive sides of not getting to come with Adam in the mornings are somewhat weak. But I do my best to see and cherich them.)
